I don't think I'm alone in the world when I say I love a good cat fight.
Especially when the women involved are packing mob genes in their veins.
Well, then you can understand why in April of 2011 - when VH1 debuted "Mob Wives" - I was ecstatic.
“ ‘Mob Wives’ is a docu-soap series that follows the lives of four women at a crossroads, having to pick up the pieces and carry on while their husbands or fathers do time for mob-related activities. They are struggling with their identities, their own families and their futures.” — vh1.com.
These women have no fear of letting the spit and diamonds fly when they fight with each other over, well, kind of stupid things.
All the cast members have some type of connection to the mob, backing up every threat that spills out of their mouths with an, "I'll gut you like a fish."
And I love it.
The cast includes Renee Graziano, Karen Gravana, Drita D'Avanzo, Carla Facciolo, Romona Rizzo, "Big Ang" Raiola and introducing this season, Love Majewski, who claims to have poisoned people.
Now in its third season, this show is kind of like "Jersey Shore" on steroids, only by the way of big hair, gaudy jewelery, the occasional cocktail and DRAMA.
My favorite cast member, Big Ang, even had her own spin off on VH1, detailing her life as a bar owner and baller. Yes, Big Ang is a baller. With a tiny dog and boobs the size of small children, this woman rivals Steven Tyler in the lip injection department. And her voice. Oh dear, her voice is like a muppet had a rough night that involved a bottle of whiskey and a carton of Pall Malls. Big Ang always claims a neutral territory when cast members fight, and has even been a catalyst to some of the girls' fights being solved. But it's okay, even if she's not dramatic, her larger than life personality makes up for it.
Drita, or as everyone's accent says her name as "Driter," is a pretty bad-ass mob princess as well. She's built like a string bean with muscles, but her threats to other castmates kind of even make me scared of her. Last season we got to see her rap. And I didn't like it.
Karen, Carla and Romana all have their own little fights here and there, but they all are kind of boring. But this show is good enough that you could forget about them and still love the show.
But, the biggest bag-of-crazy of them all, Renee, is one of the reasons that this show even exists. Renee's sister, Jennifer, is the creator of "Mob Wives." This woman needs to be medically sedated at all times. And usually she is. But the moments when she gets mad, such as crumbs on the floor (THE CRUMBS!), you know Renee means business. With a father that was in and out of jail for different reasons and a husband who is following in the same steps, her life has always been a bit unstable, but Renee flies off the handle at pretty much anything. In the season three premiere, she said she would rip fellow castmate Carla's lips off her face. That's nice.
I mean, some people don't think this is real, but I have a feeling scripting this would be impossible. But you know what? I wouldn't want to piss off any of these women on a bad day. And I don't think you would either.
Check out Mob Wives at 8 p.m. Sundays on VH1.
