YMCA to open teen center

JERSEY SHORE - The Jersey Shore Branch YMCA will hold a dedication ceremony to denote the official opening of its new Teen Center from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The event is free and open to the public.

Light refreshments will be served. For more information, call 398-2150.

NAMI Lycoming group to meet

The NAMI Lycoming - National Alliance on Mental Illnesses - will hold a group meeting at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 29 at Robert M. Sides Family Music Center, 201 Mulberry St.

The group will offer support and share knowledge and understanding of mental illnesses. The guest speaker will be Dr. Richard Dowell.

Romance writers group to meet

The Central Pennsylvania Romance Writers will meet from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Feb. 2 at the Joseph T. Simpson Public Library 16 N. Walnut St., Mechanicsburg.

The meeting will feature Officer Greg Berry, who will discuss correct law enforcement procedures for writers' manuscripts. Published and unpublished writers are welcome to attend meetings.

The Central PA chapter is a regional chapter of the Romance Writers of America.

Muncy library to hold workshop

MUNCY - An e-book workshop will be held at 3 p.m. Feb. 4 at the Muncy Public Library.

The workshop will show participants how to download and use an e-book.

Free e-books can be downloaded from the library's website at www.muncylibrary.com.

Registration is required for this event and can be made by calling the library at 546-5014.

Library plansupcoming events

JERSEY SHORE - The Jersey Shore Public Library is offering special programs for children and adults in the upcoming weeks.

In conjunction with Jackson Real Estate, the library will offer a program for potential home buyers called "House Buying 101."

The program will cover many aspects of home buying such as wants vs. needs, financing, negotiating, determining what you can afford, legal contracts and more.

Registration for the program may be made by contacting the Jackson Real Estate Office at 398-1201, emailing Jim@ MJacksonRE.com, or by stopping in the office at 230 Allegheny St.

E-book download classes that teach the basics of how to download free e-books from the library's collection of digital titles will be held at 6 p.m. Feb. 7 and 2:30 p.m. Feb. 8.

Registration for these e-book classes is not necessary, but helpful. Call the library at 398-9891.

Both the House Buying 101 and e-book classes will be held in the downstairs community room at the library.

Storytime programs are held at 10 a.m. every Thursday. A spring baby storytime session will begin at 10 a.m. Monday.

Friends of the Library will hold their annual spring book sale on Feb. 21, 22 and 23.
