Clarence D. "Sparky or Clyde" Allen Jr., 80, of Unityville, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at the Orangeville Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born Sept. 14, 1932, in Washingtonville, a son of the late Clarence D. Sr. and Beatrice Mordan Allen. On Oct. 23, 1968, he married Ruth A. Lore, who survives.
Clarence served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Sprout Waldron Manufacturing in 1993 after 20 years of service. Following retirement, he worked in the maintenance department of the Millrace Golf Course. Sparky loved to tinker around the house and for friends and family.
In addition to his wife of 44 years, he is survived by two sons, Donald (Leni) Allen, Lopez and Danny Allen, Benton; a brother, Delbert (Edith) Allen, Unityville; two sisters, Alice (Richard) Gottshall, Catawissa and Nancy (Guy) Herriman, Unityville; and an aunt, Jean Robbins, Unityville.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, in the Unityville Fire Hall, 6187 Route 42 North, Unityville, by the Sonestown American Legion. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. till the time of service. Arrangements are by the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville.
