Richard D. "Dick" Bender Sr., 76, of 96 Park Place East, Apt. 45, Muncy, died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at the Muncy Valley Hospital Emergency Room.
Born June 9, 1936, in Sullivan County, he was a son of the late Clarence Samuel and Grace (Rohe) Bender.
On May 15, 1987, he married the former Carolle McMillen, who survives. Together they celebrated 25 years of marriage.
Dick will be missed by many. He had a great sense of humor that always made people laugh and feel comfortable. He made friends easily and had many, many friends. He was a delivery driver by trade and always found the good in life and the good in people.
He was a non-denominational Christian.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three sons, Richard D. Bender Jr., Dave Bender and Mark Hawk and his wife Lynn Mitstifer; eight daughters, Joan Bender Thorne and husband Rich, Connie Bender, Julie Chamberlin and husband Brett, Deborah Moser (Richard Heintzelman), Donna Westbrook (Willard Beck), Starr Hawk Blend and husband Robert, Michelle Hawk Robey and husband Jerry, Joy McMillan Beers and husband Scott; four brothers and one sister; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Grenoble's, 121 S. Main St., Muncy, where the funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday. Officiating will be Pastor Ann Overmiller, minister of Ralston United Methodist Church.
Burial will follow in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery.
