Phyllis D. Griess, 89, of Loyalsock Township, passed away Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013, at the Williamsport Home.
She was born Oct. 26, 1923, in Renovo, a daughter of Dr. Earl Rice Davis and Jessie Hampshire Davis Smithgall.
Phyllis was a member of Faxon Kenmar United Methodist Church, enjoyed knitting, playing golf and was a devoted mother.
She was predeceased by her parents; stepfather, Herman F. Smithgall; husband, Raymond H. Griess; a sister, Janice Angstadt; and a grandson, Joseph Michael White III.
Phyllis is survived by two daughters, Jan G. (Joseph Jr.) White and Kimberly G. Penfield, both of Loyalsock Township; four grandchildren, Jayna W. (Jeff) Haldeman, Jill W. (Jose) Melendez, Ian G. (Kelly) Penfield and Jeremy D. Penfield; and seven great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date and burial will be at the convenience of the family. The family will provide the flowers.
Arrangements are by Spitler Funeral Home, Montoursville.
