North Central Sight Services to host ‘Dining in the Dark’

January 22, 2013
Williamsport Sun-Gazette

On March 2, North Central Sight Services Inc. will hold its first Dining in the Dark fundraiser. The semi-formal event will be held in cooperation with The School of Hospitality at Pennsylvania College of Technology.

The evening will begin with a cocktail reception followed by a gourmet dinner in the Le Jeune Chef restaurant.

Participants will be blindfolded upon entering the dining room for a full sensory experience. Diners will be served by students from the School of Hospitality.

"This will truly be a unique experience. Those that participate will abandon their sight for an hour or two and experience what it is like to have no vision," said Robert Garrett, presiden-CEO. "This will also be a learning experience for the students who will be instructed on how to serve and assist someone with low vision."

Net proceeds from the event will benefit North Central Sight Services Inc., which provides rehabilitation services, employment opportunities and prevention of blindness education. North Central Sight Services Inc. serves Lycoming, Clinton, Centre, Sullivan, Bradford, Tioga, Susquehanna and Potter counties. Tickets for Dining in the Dark are $85 per person or $640 per table of eight. Seating is limited.

For more information about Dining in the Dark or to make reservations, call 323-9401 or email events@ncsight.org.
