James J. Kase Jr., 76, of Williamsport, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at the Gatehouse at Divine Providence Hospital, while surrounded by family.
He was born in Williamsport on May 14, 1936, a son of James J. and Doris Nierle Kase.
Jim was a lifelong member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, a lifetime member of the Gesang Verein Harmonia and a social member of the Young Men's Republican Club.

He retired after 41 years at the Williamsport Sun-Gazette and was an avid sports fan, especially Notre Dame.
Jim served in the U.S. Army from 1955 until 1957.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Sandra Shaw Kase; four children, Cynthia A. (James) Golden, Michele M. (Jerry) Beardsley, James J. (Debra) Kase III and Janette L. (Timothy) Wilson; nine grandchildren, Christopher, Matthew, Jonathan and Jennifer Golden, Ryan (Heather) Beardsley, Meghan Beardsley, Catherine Kase, Danielle and Travis Wilson; three great-grand- children, Noah, Conner and Brayden; four brothers, Thomas, Robert, Gerald and Ronald Kase; eight sisters, Sister Ann Marie S.C.C., Cynthia Steinbacher, Mary Bernadette Steinbacher, Elaine Neidig, Francis Butters, Rose Anne Kirby, Marcia Bischof and Christine Kline.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at St. Boniface Catholic Church with his pastor, Msgr. Stephen D. McGough, officiating.
Burial at Resurrection Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family.
The family will receive family and friends at Crouse Funeral Home, 133 E. Third St., from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Friday.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to St. Boniface Catholic Church, 326 Washington Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701.
