Martin J. (Bud) Fidler, 92, formerly of Milton, passed away on Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, in the Valley View Nursing Center. Born in Milton, Northumberland County, Pa., on Friday, Feb. 27, 1920, he was the son of the late Joseph and Pearl (Golder) Fidler.
Bud was the widower of Phyllis (Leech) Fidler who preceded him in death on June 4, 1992.
Martin honorably served during World War II with the U.S. Army. He participated in the Battle of the Bulge and served in the European, African and Middle Eastern Theatres. Bud was retired from the Milton High School where he was employed as a custodian.
He attended the Huntersville United Methodist Church. Martin enjoyed fishing, gardening, landscaping, playing cards and stamp collecting. He was a past commander of the Milton Branch of the Knights of Malta, a life member of the Milton V.F.W. and a member of the Williamsport Stamp Club. Bud was the founding father of the Stubborn Old Man Club.
He is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Robert E. and Barb Fidler, Johnsonburg, Pa.; Charles R. Fidler, Huntersville, Pa.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Carol A. and Scott Hardy, Ft. Myers, Fla., Sheryl M. and Galen Delker, Huntersville, Pa.; one brother and sister-in-law, Earl "Butch" and Judy Fidler, East Lewisburg, Pa. Martin is also survived by seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Martin was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Levitan and Marguerite "Sis" Lyle.
