Artwork by Jimbot will be on display at the Community Theatre League, 100 W. Third St., for First Friday.

Seaglass by Deb and Mike Cillo. First Friday goers may vote for "Mardi Paw" king and queen. The event will help to raise proceeds for Bark for Life, the American Cancer Society's canine event to fight cancer.

Bullfrog will host MiZ at 10 p.m. First Frday. The style of MiZ, the band, has been described as a fusion of folk, rock, bluegrass and blues; in short, a melting pot blended into what would best be categorized as "pure Americana." There will be no charge for admission.

Converge Gallery

Converge Gallery is pleased to announce their latest exhibitions "In Story" featuring larger-than- life canvases by Joanne Landis in the main gallery and "Abstractions," a showcase of new abstract work by artists Howard Tran, Hannah Leah Gibbs and John Nicholson in the upstairs gallery.

Featuring artwork by Converge Gallery artist Jimbot. James (Jimbot) Demski Jr. lives in Milwaukee, Wis., with "his wife, his daughter, his two dogs and possibly a captive robot he keeps in his basement. After graduating from art school, James began re-programming his over-schooled brain, and took work as a freelance artist ... he has been doing it ever since."

Featured artist: Luana Cleveland. Cleveland is a graduate of Penn State University. She also attended the Art Students' League in New York City and the Brooklyn Museum School.

She has had solo exhibitions of her work in New York City; Arnot Art Museum, Elmira, N.Y.; Sloan Gallery, Lock Haven University; and Penn State. Cleveland's art has been featured in American Artist magazine. Her recent work focuses on exotic animal portraits in pastel and watercolor.

February's featured artist is Malachi Hall from Williamsport Area High School. Opening reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Work will be on display for about one month.

Otto's guest authors will be James King, author of a paperback novel, "Bill Warrington's Last Chance," about an elderly Alzheimer's patient who kidnaps his granddaughter to reconcile family differences, and Jennie Milchman, author of "Cover of Snow," an unbelievably suspenseful story of a policeman's wife who just wants to find out why her husband killed himself.

Susquehanna Valley Shutterbugs to hold the 20th annual member's show from 6 to 9 p.m.

A Best of Show ribbon will be awarded to the photo that receives the most votes.

The work will be on display until Feb. 25.

Collegetown Gallery at Community Arts Center

220 W. fourth St.

6 to 9 p.m.

Emily Bigger, a Penn College senior, will be the Collegetown Gallery artist for February's First Friday. Her photography exhibit is titled "Schism."

The Collegetown Gallery, which is designed to showcase the local college art programs and students, is part of First Friday and is held in the front lobby of the Community Arts Center. The month's exhibit may be seen from 6 to 9 p.m. and then on the second floor lobby for the remainder of the month.
