Paul L. Rice, 85, of Rice Lane, Williamsport, passed away, Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, at the Gatehouse of Divine Providence Hospital.
Born July 18, 1927, in Williamsport, he was the son of Carl R. and Margaret (Blair) Rice.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth (Rockey) Rice on April 16, 2007; sisters, Arlene Rice and Harriet Kinley; and a brother, David Rice.
He was a farmer and a lifelong resident of Loyalsock Township. He enjoyed cutting wood, 4-wheeling and snowmobiling, traveling and family picnics.
Paul is survived by four sisters, Marion (Charles) Wirth of Williamsport, Margaret Shafer of Williamsport, Irma (William) Goodell of Williamsport and Betty Bernardi of Cogan Station.
He was an important and valued mentor in the lives of his 26 nieces and nephews who will be forever grateful for his love and generosity. Myers, Fla., Lisa (Harry) Hulsey of Bellaire, Texas, Sheryl (Bob) Rice of Ft. Myers, Fla., Lynn (Harold) Baldus of Baltimore, Md., Bill (Tammy) Goodell of Williamsport, Rodney (Jeanie) Goodell of Williamsport, Denise (Gary) Ciriacy of Ocean View, Del., Kim (Marc) Steiger of Williamsport, Jack (Nancy) Wirth of Cogan Station, Steven Bernardi of Penns Creek, Ruthann (Bernard) Sartori of Nisbet, Nancy (Jim) Sember of Rauchtown, Carol (Jim) Paulhamus of Montoursville, Wayne (Cathy) Rockey of Montoursville, Steve (Elaine) Rockey of Williamsport, Phyllis (Scott) Roan of Linden, Bob (Elaine) Rockey of Northumberland, Kay Rockey of New Columbia, Barbie Rockey of New Columbia, Richard Rockey of Montoursville, Keith (Jenny) Rockey of Florida, Donna Rockey of Montoursville and John Rockey of Montoursville.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, at Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond St., Williamsport. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at Sanders Mortuary.
The family will provide flowers and suggest that memorial contributions in Paul's name be made to the Gatehouse of Divine Providence Hospital, 1100 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701.
