LEWISBURG - The Evangelical Gala, Evangelical Community Hospital's premier fundraising event, will take place on March 9 at Larison Hall on the campus of Bucknell University. It begins with a 5:30 p.m. cocktail hour and a silent auction, followed by dinner, dancing and a live auction.
Proceeds will support an effort to establish a comprehensive diabetes care program at Evangelical Community Hospital.
According to the American Diabetes Association, nearly 26 million adults and children in the United States have diabetes, and that number continues to grow. The comprehensive diabetes care initiative at Evangelical will serve the residents of the Susquehanna Valley by providing support and programs for those with diabetes and offering preventative care for those exhibiting signs of pre-diabetes.
Last year’s Evangelical Gala raised more than $90,000 for nursing scholarships.
The 2013 Gala will raise funds for the launch of a comprehensive diabetes program.
As in years past, the Gala features silent and live auctions with exciting prizes. Included in the auction items are a three-night stay at Loews Hotel in Annapolis, Md.; a six-night stay in Marco Island, Fla.; a power parachute ride; a variety of elegant gift baskets; and fine jewelry.
Reservations for the black-tie optional event are needed by Feb. 22. For more information, or to reserve a seat, visit www.evanhospital.com/gala.
