County and municipal taxes now can be paid at branch offices of Citizens & Northern Bank, under an agreement that Lycoming County commissioners are expected to vote on Thursday.
The arrangement provides more convenience for taxpayers, said Thomas D. Heap, county tax claim bureau director. Tax bills are deposited with the bank anyway, so the process actually saves time for county workers, he said.
Citizens & Northern Bank has local offices in the city, Jersey Shore, Muncy, Old Lycoming Township and South Williamsport.
Commissioners also will review a number of state Community Development Block Grant requests from various agencies. The total amount of requests are for slightly more than $364,000, according to Kristin McLaughlin, a SEDA-Council of Government community development program analyst.
Requests include $80,000 for installation of water meter replacements for income-qualifying homeowners served by the Limestone Township Municipal Water Authority's filtration plant. The total cost of that project is $250,000.
A $84,000 request for lateral construction grants and on-lot system abandonment along North Cottage Avenue in Old Lycoming Township also is included.
Other requests include:
$64,999 for the purchase and installation of software to centralize all intake and eligibility processes for all STEP Inc. programs.
$25,000 for the purchase of a generator for an emergency shelter in Cascade Township.
$15,000 for the purchase and installation of an emergency generator at the Beaver Lake sewage treatment plant.
$60,000 for sewer lateral replacement grants for income-eligible homeowners served by the DuBoistown sanitary sewer.
$13,728 to extend a walking trail at the Mifflin Township park.
$22,000 to demolish a home that was damaged by flooding in September 2011 in Picture Rocks.
