A two-alarm fire was burning out of control late Saturday night in a one-story home on the 2200 block of Fox Street, just off of Mill Lane, in Old Lycoming Township.
Firefighters from more than a half a dozen communities, as far as Jersey Shore, responded to the blaze, which broke out about 9:45 pm. About 10:20 p.m., authorities indicated the fire could be under control.
When township police arrived on the scene, there was heavy smoke pouring from the home.
It was unknown if anyone was in the house. One witness reported seeing someone coming out of the house and then going back in, but fire officials could not confirm that.
A call went out for a township road crew because with temperatures expected to be close to single digits, water runoff from hoses was going to turn the street into a sheet of ice.
