Clyde Wendell Sweeney, 79, of Harrisburg, Pa., entered into eternal rest on Feb. 6, 2013, at his home surrounded by his loved ones. Born in Salem, W.Va., the son of the late Richard Lee Sweeney, Clyde was known everywhere for his large stature and warm disposition by the name "Poppy."
Clyde was drafted in 1955 NFL draft but chose to join the military and proudly serve his country. Clyde dedicated his life to his family, helping others, and working hard. Clyde loved all things American, all people, and all animals.
Clyde is survived by his beloved Linda B. Sweeney; his three children, Cheryl Lockard, Carmen L. Packer and Carol Miller; and his seven grandchildren, Matthew and Joseph Lockard, Nicole and Danielle Packer, Loren and Kayla Miller, and Carlene Sweeney.

Services for Clyde will be held at the Hetrick-Bitner Funeral Home in Harrisburg on Monday, Feb. 11, 2013. A visitation will be held from noon to 1 p.m. with memorial services beginning at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
