Old Lycoming Township supervisors Tuesday evening approved a time extension for parcel descriptions to be submitted for the construction of a new CVS pharmacy on Lycoming Creek Road.
Township Manager Robert Whitford said extra time is needed to locate and consolidate parcel descriptions for properties to house the pharmacy, Eyeland Optical and a production facility for Sunset Ice Cream.
Originally five parcels, the land development plan will combine all properties into one, Whitford said.
Supervisor John Eck and Whitford were appointed as township representatives to the Greater Lycoming Emergency Services Alliances Committee. The organization is tasked with finding ways to pool resources from area volunteer fire companies and Williamsport's paid department.
Results released Jan. 22 from a study completed in part by the state Department of Community and Economic Development indicated both that volunteer and paid departments continue to explore, in cooperation with municipalities, ways to share resources in an effort to save money and increase potential staffing.
"It's very impressive what they got started," Eck said of the study. "We have to be a part of it - not just the fire departments."
