Just after the election in Nov, I read a letter to editor saying 'same old voters who vote for same old politicians, who do the same old thing... nothing'. I beg to differ with Mr. Stahl when he says 'the problem is not the politician, but... the same old voters'. It seems to me that our election process does not give many choices for voters.
I've been frustrated for years if not decades on this topic and I know many people are equally dissatisfied! How can we elect new politicians if there are no other choices than the same old politicians. The politician pool is so limited that "The People" cannot possibly vote in/choose new & trustworthy representation in our local, state & federal governments. There needs to be a serious 'tune-up' in our government political system!
People everywhere are angry, & yet our hands are tied. We get the same old promises & the same old results! On that note, I agree with Mr. Stahl. Sadly, good people don't want to be politicians because they are scrutinized under a microscope (no one's perfect!) and if a good person becomes a politician, the ways of the government will corrupt him or her anyway.
The people of the United States want desperately to save this great nation. We are saddened and truly terrified of the direction in which we are headed! Just what is it going to take for people to do more than talk & grumble about all the problems? And what is that "more"? Time's wasting. So many people are oblivious to the depth of the trouble we are in and they pay no attention. Maybe someday this country will be like it is portrayed in the Hunger Games. Scary!
