The Thomas T. Taber Museum of the Lycoming County Historical Society will be hosting a Mad Hatter's tea party at 2 p.m. March 9.
Cost is $7.50 per person and registration is necessary. The Tea Party is being held to highlight a display of hats (mostly ladies' hats) from the permanent collections of the historical society and will feature hot tea, scones with fruited butters, finger sandwiches and sweets. Participants are encouraged to wear their craziest or zaniest hats, whether it is a Kentucky Derby chapeau or a picture hat worn by someone's grandmother.
A parade of hats will be a highlight of the afternoon. Several prizes will be awarded for the crowd favorites.
Red Hat Societies are welcome to attend. Men of the community are invited as well and will not be asked to remove their hats.
To register, send a check or money order to the Thomas T. Taber Museum, 858 W. Fourth St., Williamsport, PA. 17701.
The registration form is available at the museum's front desk or available on the Museum's website www.tabermuseum.org. Registration is due by March 7.
The hat display will open on March 9 and remain on display until April 18.
Normal admission fees to tour the museum will be in effect for the remainder of the exhibit.
There is parking in the back of the museum or on the street. The museum's normal operational hours are 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
