The recent weather was anything but spring-like. To paraphrase the headline to the lead story in the Sun-Gazette that day, "Phil missed the spring call." And by his handlers' own admission, he did so last year, too.
In contrast, Octorara Orphie, the furry marmot weather prognosticator from Southern Lancaster County, predicted six more weeks of winter. No wonder he is known as the "True Prophet and Seer" among groundhogs. That coddled creature from Punxsy has a well-earned reputation as "Phil the Phraud."
