The Lycoming County Prothonotary's Office is holding a special passport event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 9 in Williamsport to provide passport information and accept passport applications.
The event is being staged in conjunction with the Department of State's Passport Day 2013, a national passport acceptance and outreach event.
Because the event is scheduled on a Saturday, applications will be accepted in the first-floor conference room of Executive Plaza, 330 Pine St.
As of Feb. 15, to make the process more convenient, the prothonotary's office is taking passport photos on-site, so customers who participate in the event or make application during normal county business hours may have their photos taken by staff members on the same day they make application. An appointment is not needed.
For more information, call the prothonotary's office at 327-2251. Passport information also is available, in English and Spanish, by calling the National Passport Information Center toll-free at 1-877-487-2278 or going online at travel.state.gov.
