A Trout Run woman faces felony charges after she allegedly was caught stealing groceries from a local store. According to court records, this is her fifth retail theft arrest.
Robin Lea Villa, 31, of 2934 Kellyburg Road, has been charged with felony retail theft and one misdemeanor charge for possession of a controlled substance.
On Thursday, state police received a report from Michelle Dixon, loss prevention officer for Giant Foods on East Third Street, Loyalsock Township.
Dixon said that Villa allegedly entered the store and concealed several items in a large black purse before exiting the premises.
Dixon stopped Villa and detained her until authorities arrived, according to court records.
A search of Villa's purse revealed that two packs of sirloin steaks, four packs of ground beef, two boxes of snack cakes and one pack of french fries, for a total of about $50.
Villa allegedly admitted to authorities that she had taken the items without paying.
When asked to explain her actions, she stated that "she currently did not have enough money to feed her children and ... decided to take the food without paying," records state.
While arresting Villa, police uncovered an oxycodone pill in her coat pocket, according to the affidavit.
Villa was arraigned before District Judge James G. Carn on Feb. 21.
She is incarcerated in lieu of $12,500 bail.
