MANSFIELD - Brian A. Dake, 24, of 462 Guilick St., Blossburg, was charged by borough police with theft, receiving stolen property and burglary for allegedly taking two long guns and using them as collateral for a loan.
According to documents filed at District Judge James Carlson's office, Dake entered a residence at 357 N. Williamson Road, Sept. 13, and took two firearms, a Savage 110 Rifle .270 caliber with a wood laminate stock, camouflage sling and a Bushnell scope valued at $750 and a 12-gauge Mossburg pump action shotgun valued at $400, and then disposed of them to a third party for collateral.
Upon returning home from work, the victim noticed his dog, which he keeps in the residence, was in the driveway. Upon checking, he found the two firearms missing.
Dake allegedly told police he used the guns as collateral to get a loan of cash. The weapons have not yet been recovered.
He was issued a summons to appear at a preliminary hearing March 20.
