Defending champion Sullivan County advanced past Lourdes, 43-37, in the District 4 Class A boys basketball playoffs Wednesday at Montoursville. Conner Wylie led the Griffins with 12 points and 8 rebounds.
Sullivan took a 14-point lead early in the second half with solid halfcourt defense, but got a little complacent as Lourdes whittled the deficit to a point in the fourth quarter, said coach Glen Vaughn.
"We were playing not to lose, and give Lourdes credit," said Vaughn. "They scrapped and made a run at us."
Derek Wilkins had 11 points with 8 rebounds. Kelby Mullen had 7 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists.
Up next is a rematch of last year's district final with St. John Neumann.
In Class AAA boys, Milton advanced past Athens, 59-53, behind 19 points from Ethan Baker.
In Class AAAA?boys, State College beat Central Mountain for the District 6 title, 63-59.
