A Lycoming County jury returned a not-guilty verdict Thursday morning in the rape trial of Sherman Keller, 30, of Loyalsock Township.
The jury acquitted Keller of felony charges of rape, aggressive indecent assault, and involuntary deviant sexual intercourse after deliberating for about an hour and a half.
Keller was accused by a 19-year-old woman of assaulting her on his couch on Feb. 4, 2012. The two had met in person for the first time that night after several months of conversing online.
After Keller was arrested on Feb. 15, 2012 for these allegations, a 28-year-old woman accused him of raping her at his home in the fall of 2011. He will be tried on those charges during county court's next trial session, from April 8 through the 26th, according to Assistant District Attorney Melissa Kalaus.
