In researching the history and origin of presidential china, I was not surprised by the beautiful and interesting choices made by the various first ladies when ordering presidential china over the centuries. Martha Washington chose blue white cantonware for entertaining at her home in Virginia called Mt. Vernon, as the White House as we know it was not built during George Washington's administration.
