2 charged with writing bad checks

ELKLAND - Two people were charged with bad checks recently. According to documents filed at District Judge Brian Edgcomb's office, they are:

Rodney L. Kile, 64, of Orangeville, charged by state police for allegedly writing a bad check for $3,503 for food to be delivered to his restaurant, to Keck's Food Service, 2796 Route 328, Millerton Jan. 8. He was issued a summons to appear at a March 28 preliminary hearing.

Larry D. Dean, 27, of 1144 North Road, Middlebury Center, charged by Westfield borough police with an additional charge of theft by deception for allegedly writing three checks to Ackley and Sons, Westfield for $58, then two to Joshua Dean and Ackley and Sons - one for $50 and one for $100 - both cashed at Ackley and Sons for a total of $358 on a closed account Jan. 25. His preliminary hearing was continued to March 14.
