Frank J. Sullivan Jr.

Frank J. Sullivan Jr., 75, of Montoursville, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at the Gatehouse in Divine Providence Hospital. He was born Nov. 25, 1937, in Williamsport, a son of Frank J. Sr. and Catherine Leonard Sullivan.

Frank graduated from St. Joseph's High School in 1955, then in 1959 graduated from Lycoming College, and received his Master's equivalency from the State of Pennsylvania. He retired from the Williamsport School District after 34 years. He coached basketball at St. Joe's from 1959 to 1965 as an assistant and head coach, was Athletic Director at Bishop Neumann from 1970 to 1972, coached Montoursville Girls Basketball from 1978 to 1988, and was elected to the West Branch Valley Sports Hall of Fame for Basketball in 2000. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Montoursville, the P.S.E.A., the Harmonia Club, the Newberry Independent (Polish) Club, the Wheel Inn, and was a member and on the original Board of Directors of the Greater Williamsport Notre Dame Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and basketball, loved Cascade, and was an avid Notre Dame fan.

Frank is survived by his wife, the former Rosemary Gallagher, with whom he celebrated 53 years of marriage; his children, Janet (William) Hampton of Jacksonville, Fla., Kelli (Bryan) Renn of Horshman, Pa., Ellen (Lee) Shick of San Antonio, Texas and Amy (Scott) Menne of Montoursville; his brother, James (Vonda) Sullivan of Williamsport; sister, Ann Yeager of Seminole, Fla.; brother-in-law, William (Janet) Gallagher of Shillington, Pa.; and seven grandchildren, Conor and Riley Renn, Danielle, Dylan and Delaney Shick, and Tanner and Carson Menne.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 100 Walnut St., Montoursville, with the Rev. John K. Manno as Celebrant. Burial will be private in Wildwood Cemetery. Friends will be received on Monday, March 11, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Spitler Funeral Home, 733 Broad St., Montoursville.

Donations may be made to either Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, or to Susquehanna Home Health and Hospice, 1001 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701.
