Helen E. Metzger, 96, of Williamsport, died Friday, March 9, 2013, at the Williamsport Home.
Born June 6, 1916, in Williamsport, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Alice (Diebler) Sechrist.
Helen was a lifelong resident of Williamsport and was a 1933 graduate of Williamsport High School. She was an active member of St. John's-Newberry United Methodist Church for 83 years, serving on various committees and was a member of Friendship Sunday School Class. She was an active member of the former Shrine Club, and she had enjoyed camping for many years with her husband.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Bruce A. Metzger, in 1997; a son, Wayne A. Metzger in 1992; a brother, Carl Sechrist in 2009; and a niece, Gail Calta in 2008.
Surviving are two granddaughters, Beth Metzger of Australia and Maggie Metzger; two great-grandsons, Taylor Wise of Williamsport and Alistair Chin of Australia; her sister, Doris Raker of Williamsport; a brother-in-law, Dale (Doris) Metzger; nieces and nephews, William and Raymond Raker, Dianne Lombardo, Robert Caldwell, Shirley Albed, Alice Sechrist, Verona English, Joanne Vannoy and Carl David Sechrist.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at St. John's-Newberry United Methodist Church, 2101 Newberry St., Williamsport, with the Rev. Jay E. Jones officiating. Burial will be held in State Road Cemetery, Cogan Station. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at St. John's Newberry U.M.C.
