Construction along the Montgomery Pike will resume today as the state Department of Transportation continues its Route 15 safety improvement project.
The area affected by the $10.7 million construction project is on Route 15 between the northern intersection with Montgomery Pike Road and the roadside rest area on Bald Eagle Mountain.
Weather permitting, drainage pipes are expected to be replaced this week.
Lane restrictions and delays are expected during the work.
Concrete barriers will be placed on the work site in April for the project's next phase.
The two-year project started last year and includes installing center concrete median barrier, intersection improvements, embankment work, drainage improvements and resurfacing.
The project is one of three along the Montgomery Pike to improve safety.
After construction is completed on the current project, the third and final project is scheduled to begin in 2014.
The first was completed in 2011.
