A Williamsport teen has been charged with the rape of a 17 year old female, police say.
Cory Ryan Berger, 18, of 669 Rose St., faces felony charges of rape and sexual assault, as well as one misdemeanour charge for indecent assault.
On Feb. 16, Berger visited the victim while she was babysitting an infant, according to authorities.
The child kept the pair awake most of the night. On the morning of Feb. 17, the victim said she did not want to have sexual intercourse with Berger, because she was tired and their were other people in the residence.
Berger allegedly replied that "if she fell asleep on him without having sex with him than he would engage in sexual intercourse with her while she slept," according to court records.
The teen, who thought that Berger was making a joke, fell asleep next to him, fully clothed, records state.
She was awoken some time later to find that she was being sexually assaulted by Berger, according to the affidavit. She immediately got dressed and asked Berger to leave, police say.
When questioned, Berger allegedly confessed to authorities that he assaulted the victim in her sleep, records state.
Berger was arraigned before District Judge James G. Carn on March 8. He is incarcerated in lieu of $40,000 bail.
