Annual Easter egg hunt marks spring’s arrival

March 14, 2013
Williamsport Sun-Gazette

Perhaps there's no better sign spring is here than the annual city Easter egg hunt in Brandon Park.

This year's hunt is being planned by Mayor Gabriel J. Campana's special events committee and the city Recreation Commission.

There is something about children scrambling innocently on the grass lawn, searching for colored Easter eggs, that not only brings a smile but marks spring's arrival, according to Justin Simpson, the city recreation director.

He is asking parents, grandparents and guardians to mark their calendars for the event at 2 p.m. March 23. The egg hunt is open to children up to age 10, he said.

Participants can expect eggs filled with candy, prizes and coupons from area restaurants.

Simpson said a certain large white bunny is expected to make an appearance outside the Dr. Kenneth Cooper Band Shell.
