Susquehanna Health to hold cancer awareness event
Dr. Vivek Kumar, Susquehanna Health gastroenterology specialist, and Tina Carter, registered nurse and manager of Susquehanna Health's Digestive Disease Center, will offer a free, informative session from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the LifeCenter, Lycoming Mall, Muncy.
Colorectal cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer death in our community. With early detection and diagnosis, the cure rate is 95 percent.
Attendees will learn what they can do to help detect colorectal cancer and how early detection and treatment can lead to excellent results.
Registration for the event is required due to limited seating. Free colorectal home screening kits will be provided to all registered attendees. Call 877-883-4791 to register.
The event is co-sponsored by Blue Cross of Northeastern Pennsylvania.
NAMI to sponsor educational program
NAMI Lycoming is sponsoring a free 12 week educational program for family members, partners and friends of individuals with major depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, panic disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder and borderline personality disorder.
A series of 12 weekly classes will be held from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Monday nights from April 1 through 24 at the Sharwell Building, 200 East St.

NAMI also will hold a meeting at 6:30 p.m. March 26 at Robert M. Sides, 201 Mulberry St.
The topic will be medications and treatment for schizophrenia and bi-polar disorder.
Guest speaker will be Dr. Terri Calvert, psychiatrist.
