John E. Newcomer Sr., 65, South Williamsport, died Thursday, March 14, 2013, at home. John was born in Blossburg on June 2, 1947, the son of Walter S. and Mabel Derr Newcomer.
He was a member of LDS Mormon Church in Cogan Station. He retired as a janitor. John loved sports, camping and fishing, and was active as an umpire for Newberry Little League. He was a U.S. Marine veteran of the Vietnam War.
He is survived by his wife Jennifer. John and Jennifer celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary this past February. He is survived by his children, Pauline Newcomer, South Williamsport, Tracy (Dennis) Robbins, Harrisburg, Joann Kennedy, Williamsport, John (Shelby Scott) Newcomer Jr., Jersey Shore, Clarence (Jennifer Hauser) Newcomer, Williamsport, Caroline (Eric) Shoenberger, Highspire, Michele Newcomer, South Williamsport and Robbie (Brandy Belisle) Newcomer, Williamsport and 13 grandchildren. John is also survived by a sister, Barb Freeman, Colorado Springs, Colo.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral services will be held at the Crouse Funeral Home, 133 E. Third St., at 1 p.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Dr. Morris Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Woodward Township Cemetery. Crouse Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
