A trio of young men hope to drum up plenty of business by sharing their knowledge of music.
EPIC Percussion teaches aspiring musicians the finer points of playing the drums, xylophone, keyboard and other percussion instruments.
"Music is our life," said Marc Garside, who helps run the business out of his home at 2330 Federal Ave., Williamsport.

His partners are Nate Hawk and Grant Butters, of Williamsport. All three musicians bring their own unique talents to the business. Hawk, of Sunbury specializes in keyboard.
"Grant is the drum set guy," said Garside.
The three teach percussion at the Hawthorne Caballeros Drum and Bugle Corps, the Penn State Indoor Drumline and high schools in the Williamsport Area, Shikellamy and Southern Tioga school districts.

"I'm stronger with marching band than anything else," Garside said.
The business fills a need in the area.
"Schools have been cutting budgets. Kids have been missing out on a lot that I had as a kid," Garside explained. "We are trying to counteract that."
Kids can benefit, he said, by getting started in music at an early age. The business also offers repairs of instruments and tuning. Butters said what separates their business from similar ones is the array of percussion instruments students can learn.
"The idea is to create good percussionists," he said.
Or as Garside put it: "We are trying to go about this from a different angle."
Various types of instruction are offered including in marimba, vibraphone and timpani.
