Alice Mae Heisey Fox, 90, of Jersey Shore, passed away Saturday evening, March 16, 2013, at her residence.
She was born March 8, 1923, at Hyner, the seventh child of Christian Irving and Mary Ziegler Heisey.
Alice attended the Vilas Park Country School and Jersey Shore High School graduating in 1941 with a double major in agriculture and home economics. She graduated first and second in these majors respectively.

After training at Penn State she worked from 1942 to 1944 as a dairy herd improvement supervisor in Berks County. In 1944, she enrolled in the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps, training at the University of Pennsylvania, and graduating in 1947. She had worked at the Jersey Shore Hospital from 1948 to 1985, retiring after having worked as a head nurse of the obstetrics department.
She married Fred Andrew Fox in 1951; they moved to the Woolrich area farm where they operated a small commercial greenhouse, sold farm produce while she worked part time at the hospital until 1969 when she returned to full time nursing, retiring in 1985.
Alice was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Jersey Shore.
She was predeceased by sisters, Ruth, Pauline, Barbara, Mary and brothers, Irvin, Jacob, Jay and her husband Fred.
Surviving family members include her children, Mary Alice Fox (Michael) Franko of Gilbert and Dr. Fred Andrew (Ruth) Fox Jr. of Manhattan, Kan.; one sister, Harriet Heisey and sister-in-law, Doris Heisey, both of Jersey Shore; five grandchildren, Gabriel (Alanna) Franko, Hannah (Hide) Inoue-Franko, F. Drew Fox III, Matthew Fox and Lena Fox; two great-grandchildren, Jackson and Elizabeth Rose Franko.
Alice's Life Celebration memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 23, 2013, at the Trinity United Methodist Church, 1407 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore, with her pastor Rev. Helen M. Learn, officiating. Friends and relatives may call at the church from 10 to 11 a.m.
Her family will provide the flowers and suggests contributions can be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church or the Jersey Shore Library, 110 Oliver St., Jersey Shore, PA 17740 or Jersey Shore YMCA, 826 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore, PA 17740 or the Joy Ranch Home for Children, P.O. Arrangements are being handled by the Rearick-Carpenter Funeral Home, Ltd., "A Life Celebration Home," 1002 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore.
