Henry Lewis Long, 83, of Carlisle, a native of Williamsport, died Saturday, March 16, 2013, at Forest Park Health Center, Carlisle.
An Air Force veteran of the Korean War, he was a retired elementary school principal from Conemaugh Township School District. He received his bachelor's degree from Lycoming College and master's degree from Penn State University. Having lived in several communities in Pennsylvania, he was a member of the Rotary, Lions, and Sierra Clubs and the United Methodist Church where he was a lay person and Sunday School teacher. A history buff, he enjoyed reading, hiking and traveling.
He was born Sept. 30, 1929, to the late Dr. John William and Mildred (Lewis) Long.

He is survived by his wife, Betty (Overdurf) Long; five daughters, Cynthia Brown (Kevin) of Burke, Va., Joanne Fenstermacher (Peter) of Simsbury, Conn., Elizabeth Stickel (Jeffrey) of Springfield, Va., Rebecca Goetz (Joseph) of Mechanicsburg and Jennifer Cribari (Dan) of Harrisburg; a sister, Jean Dunkleberger of Carson City, Ariz.; and six grandchildren, Erin, Daniel, Nathan, Joshua, Alexander and Andrew.
A memorial service will be held at Lycoming College Chapel in June. Interment will be in Wildwood Cemetery, Williamsport.
