Two woman have been arrested on charges of stealing from convenience stores where they were employed, according to court records.
Candace Marie Chilson, 32, of Towanda, has been charged by city police with theft for allegedly stealing $258 from the Uni-Mart, 1944 W. Fourth St., while she was employed there on Dec. 30.
Police said she fled the area that night and was arrested a month later in Towanda on "narcotics laws."
Chilson was arraigned last week before District Judge Gary A. Whiteman and committed to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $10,000 bail.
At the Uni-Mart on Bridge Street in Jersey Shore, Jamie M. Weaver, 35, of 805 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore, was charged with misdemeanor theft for allegedly stealing lottery tickets from the business on Dec. 26 and Jan. 6, according to Tiadaghton Valley Regional Police. The total value of the tickets was $867, police said.
Store video allegedly recorded Weaver stealing 75 tickets during a two-hour period on Jan. 6, police said. She is free on $7,500 bail.
Both women have been terminated from their positions, police said.
