A planned town hall meeting that was scheduled to be hosted Thursday evening at the Loyalsock Township Volunteer Fire Co. by state Rep. Rick Mirabito, D-Williamsport, was postponed until 6 p.m. May 2 because of a scheduling conflict, according to the legislator's local staff.
Also, a town hall meeting that was scheduled for April 25 at the Hepburn Township Volunteer Fire Co. in Cogan Station was canceled, according to Mirabito's legislative staff.
Instead, a "teletown" hall will be held at 7 p.m. April 4. During the open phone conference call, residents of the 83rd Legislative District automatically will be contacted to participate if they so choose.
In addition to discussing issues such as the state's budget issues at recent town hall meetings he's hosted, Mirabito has been a critic of how hotel tax money generated in Lycoming County has been used by the Lycoming County Visitors Bureau and the Williamsport/Lycoming Chamber of Commerce.
Mirabito has called for more transparency and regulations on how hotel tax money is spent locally and how the visitors bureau operates under the auspices of the chamber.
