Doris K. Raker, 98, Williamsport, died Friday, March 22, 2013, at the Williamsport Home. Born Aug. 30, 1914, in Williamsport, she was a daughter of the late Walter S. and Alice (Deibler) Sechrist.
On May 16, 1935, she married Peter W. Raker, who preceded her in death on Sept. 6, 2001. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Helen M. Metzger and a brother, Carl Sechrist.
Doris is survived by two sons, Rev. Dr. William L. Raker (Marilyn) of Baltimore, Md. and Raymond C. Raker (Barbara) of State College; five grandsons, Brian Raker, Mark Raker, Troy Raker, Wally Raker, Brant Berkstresser; granddaughter, Holly Kindig; and six great-grandchildren, Ashley, Alexandra, Carl, and Margaret Raker, Katerina and Collin Kindig.
She was a member of St. John's-Newberry United Methodist Church since 1929, and was superintendent and teacher of the kindergarten department for 63 years. She was also active in numerous programs and committees at church.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 30, at St. John's-Newberry United Methodist Church, 2101 Newberry St., with the Rev. Jay E. Jones and The Rev. John R. Shafer co-officiating.
Friends will be received at the church one hour prior to time of service. Burial will follow in Montoursville Cemetery.
