ELKLAND - Dennis V. Defreese, 35, of 118-A Procter Ave., Elkland, was jailed in lieu of $10,000 bail following two domestic incidents in March.
Defreese was charged by borough police with simple assault and false imprisonment following the first incident on March 4 at the residence against his girlfriend, Francine M. Bell, according to documents filed at District Judge Brian Edgcomb's office.
Police said he hit Bell on the left side of her face, throwing her to the floor, and choked her after the two argued about him watching TV all day. Police found him hiding in the bedroom and he was issued a summons to appear for those charges on April 11.
On March 19, police were called to the apartment and discovered it "tore up" and filled with broken furniture.
Defreese claimed he took a mixture of drugs that caused him to "go crazy" and tell his girlfriend "something isn't right with me," police said.
As police attempted to put him under arrest, they said, a struggle ensued between the officer and defendant in the dining room. Defreese was placed in handcuffs, arrested and charged with criminal trespass and resisting arrest, and his preliminary hearing is set for Thursday.
