Gilbert F. Shuler Sr., 83, of Jersey Shore, passed away Friday, April 5, 2013, at the Williamsport Regional Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 13, 1929, in Northumberland, the son of Lester A. and Margaret Whalen Shuler.
Gilbert was the husband of Pauline E. (Krick) Shuler with whom he shared 63 years of marriage.
He served as a U.S. Marine during the Korean War.
Gilbert was a member of the St. James Lutheran Church.
He retired in 1992 from Pine Creek Quarry after 43 years of service.
Gilbert enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, cutting firewood and planting his yearly garden.
He was the No. 1 fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and Philadelphia Eagles.
Gilbert is survived by his wife, Pauline; a son, Gilbert F. (Teresa) Shuler Jr., of Rauchtown; three daughters, Gail S. (Dennis) Getgen; Ginger (Dave) Neece, both of Jersey Shore; Glenda M. (Michael) Paquin, of Fremont, N.H.; 9 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 6 sisters; and is also survived by his beloved dog, Benji.
He was predeceased by three brothers and a sister.

Relatives and friends are invited to Gilbert's Life Celebration service at noon on Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at the Rearick-Carpenter Funeral Home, Ltd., "A Life Celebration Home," 1002 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore, with Rev. Gary Shumway officiating.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until noon. Burial will be in Green Lawn Memorial Park.
