Two area drivers suffered moderate injuries in separate, single-car crashes over the weekend.
At about 5:30 a.m. Friday, Brett M. Diehl, 25, of Allenwood, was driving his Dodge Ram east in the 2100 block of Elimsport Road, Brady Township. Authorities say Diehl lost control of his vehicle while heading around a right-hand curve in the road. The truck traveled across the westbound lane and crashed head-on into a tree.
Diehl, who authorities suspect was not wearing a seat belt, was taken to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville where he was treated for possible internal injuries, according to reports.
No information was available regarding his status on Sunday afternoon.
On Saturday at about 7:30 a.m., Jorge L. Ortiz Rivera, 24, of Watsontown, was driving his Toyota Corolla east down Interstate 180, about 1,500 feet south of Sulphur Spring Hollow Road in Delaware Township.
According to authorities, Rivera's vehicle began to rotate counter-clockwise and crossed the westbound lane before entirely exiting the road.
The passenger side of the vehicle collided with an embankment on the eastern side of the road. The impact forced the car further onto its side, causing the roof and hood to crash into the same embankment, according to reports.
Authorities say the vehicle rolled over numerous times before finally coming to rest on its wheels, facing north.
Rivera, who suffered moderate injuries according to police, refused emergency transportation.
