James E. Tyson, of 430 Jordan Ave., Montoursville, died on Thursday, April 18, 2013, at The Gatehouse.
He was born March 25, 1925, in Lock Haven, and was the son of Sidney and Lillian Leitch Tyson.
He retired from Avco following many years of service as an aviation mechanic and hanger mechanic at the airport. He was Lutheran. James was a member of VFW Post 7863 in Montoursville and American Legion Post 104 in DuBoistown. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy. Earlier in life, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Surviving is a daughter, Cynthia D. Weaver, of Liverpool, N.Y.; two grandchildren, Garrett L. (Stephanie) Weaver, of LaVerkin, Utah, Tiffany C. (Scott) David, of Canton, Conn.; great-grandchildren, Patrick Davis, Charlotte Davis, Abigail Davis, Isaac Weaver and Leo Weaver; one brother, Richard Tyson, of Mill Hall; two sisters, Peg (Pat) Roseto, of Lock Haven, and Gloria Welch, of Spring Mills. He was predeceased by one sister, Dorothy Bryan; two brothers, William Tyson and Sidney Tyson Jr.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at 12:30 p.m., in the Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore. Friends may call from 11 a.m. Tuesday until time of services in the funeral home. Burial will be in the Jersey Shore Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the Jersey Shore Honor Guard. Rev. Viola Tyson, his sister-in-law, will officiate.
