Irene A. Sechler, of Turbotville, passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2013, at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.
Irene was born in Liberty Township, Montour County, on Sept. 19, 1922, the daughter of the late Emery and Edna Buss Anspach. She married Paul Sechler in 1940 and celebrated 57 years of marriage until his passing in 1997.
Irene retired as a product designer at Carey McFalls, Montgomery, and prior to that was employed for many years by American Home Products.

According to her daughters, she was devoted to her family and friends; loved to cook and bake for several community organizations. She was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church, Turbotville, The Jolly Bunch and the McEwensville Garden Club.
Irene is survived by her daughters, Darlene Hockenberry and her husband, John, of Exchange, Sandra Hendricks and her husband, Ron, of Watsontown, and Beverly Carter, and husband, Lewis, of South Dartmouth, Mass.; her five grandchildren, Robert Kilgus Jr., Brenda Baylor, Kent Kilgus, Kevin Kilgus and Matthew Gilman and their spouses; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter; a brother, Nevin Anspach of Turbotville; sisters, Shirley Whitman of Montandon and Nancy Quintin of York; and many other family and friends. All will miss her famous Christmas Fudge!
In addition to her husband and parents, Irene was also preceded in death by her brother, Harold Anspach and her beloved granddaughter, Shannon Newman.
Friends are invited to call Friday, April 26, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 39 Paradise St., Turbotville. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, at the church with Rev. Erwin Roux officiating. Burial will follow in Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Irene's name may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 277, Turbotville, PA 17772.
