John L. Wagner, 79, of 10491 Jackson Run Road, Sugar Grove, passed away Sunday April 21, 2013, at the Elk Regional Heath Center in St. Mary's.
John was born June 21, 1933 in Antes Fort, Pa., a son of the late John Wesley and Luva Elizabeth (Moore) Wagner. He attended Jersey Shore High School, and then joined the U.S. Army 101st Airborne division during the Korean War, obtaining the rank of Corporal, in Radio Intelligence. John was employed at the former GTE in Warren where he worked as lead frame and plating operator. He was and avid outdoors man and enjoyed his trips to Colorado elk hunting, and trips to Canada fishing. In his younger days, he enjoyed riding motorcycles was a charter member of the Knight Riders Motorcycle Club. John also enjoyed gardening.
He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Evora-Mae Thomas, whom he married July 10, 1971, in Warren; two sons, Randy (Rikke) Wagner of Seattle, Wash., Scott Wagner of Ligonier, Pa.; two daughters, Bonnie (Dale) Laurin of Erie and Wendy Brown of Cleveland, Ga.; 10 grandchildren, Michael (Ella) Manross, Amy Chase, Mark (Crystal) Manross, Karalee Nichols, Mellisa (Jason) Peck, Jeremy (Jenn) Laurin, Noelle (Eric) Burrows, Britney (Dave) Thomas, Casey Laurin, Joshua Brown; four stepgrandchildren; a sister, Sarah Hennessey of Warren; four brothers, Harry (Fran) Wagner of Fairview, Pa., Charles (Sandy) Wagner of Jersey Shore, Pa., Herb (Bonnie) Wagner of Warren, Richard Wagner of Norman, Okla.; 17 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and very special "out front neighbors". In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Anna Koch and Mary Trinidad and two brothers, George and David Wagner.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Warren Co. Humane Society, Elm St., Warren, PA 16365 or to the Erie Shriners Hospital for Children, 1645 W. Eighth St., Erie, PA 16505.
