Richard L. Streit, 55, of Drums, passed away Wednesday evening at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, following a lengthy illness.
Born in Hazleton, Oct. 27, 1957, he was the son of Dorothy (Olaski) Streit, of Drums, and the late John Streit, who passed away in 1987. He spent most of his life in the Drums Valley.
Richard was a Boilermaker for over 25 years. He had also worked for Van Hoekelen Greenhouses, McAdoo, and most recently for his brother at Streit's Coal Delivery, Drums. He was a member of Good Shepherd RC Church, Drums, and was an avid Harley-Davidson motorcycle enthusiast and a gun collector.
Surviving, in addition to his mother, are four brothers, John and his wife Sharon, of Cogan Station, Nicholas, Donald and his wife Mary, all of Drums, and Thomas and his wife Gail, of Williamsport; two stepsisters, Ruthann Bryan and her husband Ernest, of Hazleton, and Mary Rose Hearity and her husband James, of Beaver Meadows; and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held 5 p.m. Sunday at Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc., (East) 669 W. Butler Drive, Drums. Interment will be held privately in Calvary Cemetery, Drums. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday afternoon from 3 p.m. until the time of the service.
