SFC/retired, Thomas G. Beggs, 64, of Williamsport, entered into the church triumphant, Sunday, April 28, 2013, at the Williamsport Regional Medical Center.
He was born April 19, 1949, in New Kensington, Pa., a son of Robert S. and Evelyn J. Nichols Beggs.
Tom was a Vietnam era veteran, serving in the U.S. Army where he retired from after over 30 years of service, and a member of the Eugene Grafius American Legion Post 104 in Montoursville. After his military service, he went to work for the PA Department of Welfare, where he worked until his retirement. Tom was an ordained Deacon and Elder in the Presbyterian Church (USA); was a member of the Bible Study Fellowship; and the Montoursville Presbyterian Church. He collected World War II memorabilia and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Penn State Football Fan.
He was predeceased by his parents, and a brother, Richard.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, the former Patricia M. Barr; a son, Thomas R.H. Beggs of Williamsport; daughter, Michelle P. Beggs at home; brothers, Robert J. (Susan) Beggs of Dublin, Ohio, William E. (Gloria) Beggs of New Kensington; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, May 2, 2013, at the Montoursville Presbyterian Church, 900 Elm St., Montoursville, with the Rev. David C. Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Montoursville Cemetery. Friends will be received on Wednesday, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Spitler Funeral Home, 733 Broad St., Montoursville.
