A Montoursville man faces charges for allegedly assaulting a woman at the American Legion, 1312 Broad St., about 11:40 p.m. on April 8, according to Montoursville police.
Shannon W. Reynolds, 38, of 448 Jordan Ave., is accused of grabbing Julie K. Pitfido by her throat, cutting off her airway as he slammed her head into a wall several times, police alleged in court papers.
At one point, Reynolds prevented Pitfido from fleeing, police said.
During his arraignment on April 19, Reynolds told District Judge Gary W. Whiteman that he was the "commander-president" of the legion. Charged with unlawful restraint, simple assault, disorderly conduct and harassment, Reynolds was free on $10,000 bail.
