Jean P. Smithkors, 86, of Dushore, died Thursday, May 2, 2013, at The Highlands, Laporte.
Born Nov. 18, 1926, in Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Riley A. and Eunice Richardson Powell. Her husband of 36 years, Cecil D. Smithkors Sr., preceded her in death on Feb. 5, 1985.
Jean was a dedicated mother and grandmother who loved spending time with her family. She was also a founding member of the Fundamental Bible Church, Dushore.
Surviving are three sons, Duane (Leanne) Smithkors, of Dushore, Jeffrey W. (Roseanne) Smithkors, of New Albany, and John C. Smithkors, of Dushore; two sisters, Mary Graham, of New Jersey, and Patsy (Jack) Butler, of South Carolina; nine grandchildren, Forrest Smithkors, Justin (Renne) Smithkors, Natalie (David) Smithkors Morgan, Rebeckah (Brian) Wright, Elizabeth Smithkors, Daniel Smithkors, Matthew Smithkors, Jeremy Fonaro and Derek Malin; and three great-grandchildren, Conner and Cayden Smithkors and Caleb Wright.
In addition to her parents and husband, Jean was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Victoria Smithkors; two sisters, Betty Best and Kathleen Powell; and a brother, Riley Powell Jr.
Funeral services will be held 12:30 p.m. Monday, May 6, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 131 Headley Ave., Dushore, with her pastor, John D. Klim officiating. Burial will be in Peace Cemetery, Dushore. Friends may call from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday, at the church.
The family will provide the flowers and suggest memorial contributions to Fundamental Bible Church, P.O. Box 43, Dushore, PA 18614.
