Marion E. (Rice) Wirth, 95, of 1835 Bloomingrove Road, Williamsport, went peacefully with the Lord on May 2, 2013, at her home.
Born Aug. 7, 1917, in Williamsport, she was a daughter of Carl and Margaret (Blair) Rice.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by two brothers, David and Paul Rice; and two sisters, Arleen Rice and Harriet Kinley.
Marion graduated from Williamsport High School and Lycoming College. She was a homemaker and resided in Loyalsock Township most of her life and enjoyed gardening, canning and freezing. She especially loved raising African violets and Christmas cacti. She was a 71-year member of First United Methodist Church of Williamsport and the United Methodist Women.
Marion is survived by her husband, Charles L. Wirth Sr. They would have been married 72 years in October. She is also survived by two sons, Charles Jr. (Roberta) Wirth, of Loyalsock Township, and John (Nancy) Wirth, of Cogan Station; two grandchildren, Matthew and Sarah Wirth, of Cogan Station; and three sisters, Margaret Shafer, of Williamsport, Irma (William) Goodell, of Williamsport, and Betty Bernardi, of Cogan Station.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at First United Methodist Church, 2 Ross St., with Rev. Richard D. Waters officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
Interment will be in Wildwood Cemetery.
The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
