Harold M. Strom, 81, of Williamsport, passed away May 1, 2013, at Valley View Nursing Center, Montoursville.
He was born Oct. 3, 1931, in Flushing, N.Y. He was the son of Birger Hjalmar Strom and Mareb May Yeagle.
Harold spent his boyhood in Bethlehem. As an adult, he lived in New York City and Connecticut, returning to Pennsylvania in 2004.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1955.
Harold was a member of the Williamsport Assembly of God.
Harold attended Liberty High School in Bethlehem. He graduated from Temple University, Philadelphia, in 1952 and Hunter College, New York City, in 1975.
After working in broadcasting for a number of years, Harold began working for Union Carbide, eventually becoming Managing Editor of the UC International Manuals Department.
Harold loved music, particularly Big Band and Frank Sinatra. He played the piano and enjoyed ballroom dancing. After his retirement from full time employment, Harold began writing poetry. His poems were self-published in 2013.
Harold is remembered as a man of faith who strove to live his life to the fullest. He was often fondly referred to as a true gentleman.
Harold is survived by his wife, Lorna Strom, with whom he shared 30 years of marriage.
Also surviving is his son, Carl W. Strom, of New York, and a sister, Elizabeth Jane Dittmar, of Centre Hall.
Funeral services will be conducted noon Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at the Williamsport Assembly of God Church, 1230 Sherman St., with Rev. Joseph Beadle officiating. Family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until noon. Burial will be in Montoursville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made in Harold's honor to Williamsport Assembly God Church or a charity of preference.
